Friends of Collecta,
First off thanks to everyone that has visited the site and shared their thoughts already. The response to today’s launch has been overwhelming and we appreciate all the feedback we’re getting. We know many of you are not getting real-time results right now, and we are working as fast as we can to get things working smoothly again.
Please continue to provide your feedback so we can continue to squash these bugs and make Collecta better.

From what I’ve *read* it sounds great, but it’s just a shame I can’t get it to work. Is 5 minutes an unreasonable amount of time to keep waiting for results to come back? This must be embarassing. Well, good luck fixing it.

Thanks for taking time to try us out.
Its true we had some stumbles, but are working hard to fix the delay that some people are seeing when starting searches. Once the flow starts, the results are the most current results from the web.

When I tried Collecta yesterday it was a little slow for me (I know you guys still have that new car smell, so it’s all good). I decided to give it a day and I looked up some terms today. I like what I see so far, there are some interesting results coming back. This is nice, simple and the scrolling is not too fast (the pause feature is great). Love the logo, too! Best wishes to the whole team.

I want you guys to succeed. I always hated Google search ; stuck with good old yahoo. search ,Yeah!I like Bing for the video preview part . But you guys are painfully slow. from the comments I sense the same issue. How can you guys start the service without serious study/prep?

We hit a few unexpected issues with the overwhelming response we had on launch day. We are correcting all of those starting with the slow loading pages now. Its just a small kink in the hose and should be fixed soon.
Even with the slow loading once the results do start, they are the most current real-time results you can get on the web.
Thanks for trying us out and for the feedback.

Very interesting search engine. Although I can see the usefulness to content creators and first source journalists, researchers and surfers might not find every Twitter response (which seems to dominate a lot of the results…) useful for most searches. I would not limit the search engine, it is good to get the latest news on the fly but you also need to find old things too. You should have a more robust search criteria that allows you to find exactly what you are looking for.

Good idea, needs work.
Grey background makes reading text hard to read.
Make the real-time searches appear on the left or right panels and have normal search results appear in the center.
Integrate Bing’s multimedia features and contact info.

I’m unable to “start a discussion” at support.collecta.com. When I click on “Post Issue/Topic” it returns me to the form with the text I entered and no indication of the success or failure of posting.

Dennis, That is really weird. Please feel free to email us at Help@collecta.com to report or discuss any issues. I will try to figure out what was happening with the support page.

Hi Guys,
I get the following response ( same since the 20th ) -
Collecta is currently unavailable…..
when can we expect the possibility of “testing” out the service ?
I am using Chrome / dev 3.0.190.1

Steve,
Collecta should work in all browsers but that version has not been fully tested yet.
If you care to you can try and delete all queries, reload and try again. If that still fails please try Safari, A current version of IE or Firefox as we know those are working at this time.
Also, we are always available at help@collecta.com or at http://support.collecta.com

Cool, best of luck. Only problem is I run IE6 (and don’t want to upgrade) which means that I can’t use it
